Drink Water for Life

Drink Water for Life during Lent
Since 2006, the members of our congregation have been drinking water during the Lenten season instead of expensive beverages.  The money each of us saves through this Lenten observance is collected on Palm Sunday and used to fund clean water projects in the Central Plateau of Haiti.  Along with other UCC congregations in the Central Pacific Conference, we have brought clean water and sanitation to tens of thousands of people in Haiti as well as Kenya and Honduras -- saving thousands of lives. Donations to this mission are welcome year round. Please make your check out to First Congregational UCC and mail it to us (700 Marion Street NE, Salem, OR 97301). Mark the memo line "Water." Thank you!

The Zabriko Project
A partnership facilitated by 1st Congregational UCC Salem OR between "villages" in the United States -- schools, churches, service clubs, and youth groups -- and "villages" or communities in Haiti and other developing countries. Our current work centers on funding clean water, sanitation, and health promotion education to communities on the Central Plateau of Haiti through our partner MPP.
