Worship and Spiritual Practice

We Seek Seekers

Whoever you are, wherever you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here!

We encourage questions, we honor differences of opinion, and we celebrate our similarities. Acknowledging our commitment to the Way of Jesus as told in the gospels, we support each individual’s spiritual journey. Though our understandings of God are varied, we describe the Holy One as mysterious, tenacious, unconditionally-loving, genderless, forgiving and the source of all that is. And, we believe…

Sunday Mornings with Us

Visitors are always welcome, whether you are familiar with church, or are exploring spiritual community for the very first time. On Sunday mornings, our 9:00 am spiritual practice circle offers a warm and welcoming small-group experience for newcomers and old-timers alike. Our 10:30 Sunday worship service invites you to come as you are for joyful worship in all-ages, beloved community.

If you like to sing, our Chancel Choir always welcomes newcomers of all voices and abilities. For more information, please contact Choir Director Sam Bilinowich.

Spiritual Practice Circle @ 9:00 am

All are invited to join Rev. Yael Lachman for an hour of spiritual practice that ground our lives in sacred reading, contemplative prayer, and deep peace. All are welcome. Come every week or drop in when you can!

Sunday Worship at 10:30 a.m.

Sunday worship is the time during the week when members and friends gather to celebrate who we are, support one another, grow as a community and live our life as faithful people of God and followers of Jesus.

What to Expect

People wear every style of clothing–from casual to professional dress at our church. Wear what is comfortable for YOU.

You will be offered a printed order of worship (bulletin) that will make it easy for you to follow the worship service. We sing , pray, read and reflect on sacred texts and their meaning for our lives today. An offering plate is passed, but you are not obligated to give. Announcements usually happen at the start of the service.

At 11:00 am, children and youth are invited either to remain in worship with their families or to join our teachers upstairs for 30 minutes of stories, conversation, and crafts.

First Sundays at First Congregational: All-Ages Worship with Communion for All!

On the first Sunday of each month, we worship as one beloved community: children, youth, and their teachers stay with us in the sanctuary for our hour-long worship service, which features stories, songs, and reflections for all ages.

On the first Sunday of the month, we also gather to share Communion. Ours is an open table, and all are welcome—you need not be a member of the congregation or affiliated with any church to join us around Christ’s table. Gluten-free bread and grape juice are served, so that all may share in this feast of God’s abundant love.

Most Sundays from September through May, our Chancel Choir sings, accompanied by our organist on organ and piano. During the summer months, we invite members and friends of our congregation to share their musical gifts with us during worship.

Worship is followed by refreshments and conversation downstairs. Please join for coffee, snacks, and great conversation!
